Stimulating discussions and diverse insights into the cooperation between Karlsruhe and India at the members' meeting of the India Board Karlsruhe

On Friday, 15 November 2024, more than 50 members and friends of the India Board Karlsruhe came together in the Karlskantine above the rooftops of the city. The event provided the ideal setting for an evening of encounters and dialogue.

Lord Mayor Dr Frank Mentrup opened the evening and emphasised how important he finds the exchange within the India Board. His goal for Karlsruhe is to become a hub for Indian professionals and companies. He introduced Mr Torben Stieglitz as the new Head of the Economic Development Office and welcomed Ms Petra Bender, representing the Welcome Centre, and Mr Michael Datta, Techniker Krankenkasse, who have been won as new supporters for the India Board.

The participants were then given a variety of insights into the cooperation between Karlsruhe and India:

Ms Nicole Walter, External Relations Department, and Ms Sabine Dietlmeier, Economic Development, reported on their trip to India in October 2024, representing the City of Karlsruhe at the Asia Pacific Conference, among other events, and gained exciting insights into projects such as Leaarn-for-life.org, a social project that runs a school, a bakery and a guest house in India to give children from poorer families access to education and their first experience of craftsmanship. Two young trainees in the bakery trade have already been recruited for the Nussbaumer company in Waldbronn from this project.

Mr Tasvar Ali, from the newly founded Indian Promotion Center Karlsruhe (Ibpro), then presented KPC Messtechnik GmbH as a new Indian company in Karlsruhe. Ibpro supports Indian companies in setting up in Karlsruhe and the region, from obtaining visas to setting up a company.
Ms Nicole Karle, who spoke on behalf of the artists of the Goat Art Project, offered an insight into a creative and charitable project. She presented the art project, in which sculpture goats are individually painted and then sold. The proceeds go to the IndienHilfe Deutschland e.V. organisation.

Finally, Mr Martin Wacker, Managing Director of Karlsruher Event und Marketing GmbH, took the attendees on a journey back to the colourful and musical India Summer Days, which took place in July 2024, in the form of a video. Preparations for the next India Days are already in full swing.

After the presentations, the evening moved on to the cosy part of the event, which was all about networking and offered participants a variety of opportunities to talk to each other, exchange ideas and make valuable contacts.

The positive response and the numerous stimulating conversations made the event a complete success.

We would like to thank all participants and contributors who helped to make this evening so special.
