Karlsruhe Delegation in Nagpur

The focus is on innovations

After visiting Pune, Karlsruhe delegation continued in February 2020 their journey to Nagpur, met with members of “Vidarbha Industries Association” (VIA) and “Smart City Nagpur” to discuss the ongoing collaboration within different aspects of Smart City. They also joined the “Citizen Participation Recognition”-Award ceremony which honoured Nagpur citizens for their outstanding contribution to the community.

These cooperations between experts, cities, regions and countires will make a significant contribution to the future viability of innovation topics. "Because it is also about the growth and prosperity of the regions in global competition", says Ralf Eichhorn from Karlsruhe's Economic Business Department, the coordinator of the "India Board Karlsruhe", a successful network of actors from the region Karlsruhe - all with a connection to India.

In Nagpur the delegates alos had the chance to test drive the newly inaugurated Nagpur metro, as well as to try their hand at the new E-scooters and bikes available at various Metro stations for easy mobility of citizens. In Nagpur, a workshop within a joint City2City project supported by EU successfully took place in order to establish a bicycle sharing system for last mile transport. Smart City Nagpur: "Bounce" works with the "Maharashtra Metro Rail" in Nagpur - for a mobile sharing offer.

Anlaufstelle in Pune

 

Die Kooperation zwischen Karlsruhe und dem indischen Pune ist einen Schritt weiter: Im Januar 2014 wurde im "MCCIA Trade Tower", 403, Senapati Bapat Road, eine direkte Karlsruher Anlaufstelle mit den Repräsentantinnen Iris Becker und Winnie Kulkarni von "Let's Bridge IT" in Pune eröffnet.

Durch Erfolg und Ausbau der vielfältigen Aktivitäten - ob Infos rund um den Standort Karlsruhe, aktiv Kontakte zu indischen Firmen halten oder deutsche Firmen aus der TRK in und um Pune bekannter machen - erfolgte im März 2018 ein Umzug in neue Räumlichkeiten, auch durch die Erweiterung um die Repräsentanz des Landes Baden-Württembergs in Maharashtra sowie das Marketingbüro der „Hochschul Föderation Südwest“.
