As usual, the main venue here will be the Filmtheater Schauburg in Karlsruhe's Südstadt, which, as a traditional cinema with its wonderful flair in listed architecture and its state-of-the-art projection technology, invites you to enjoy a colourful fan of the most diverse short films, medium-length films, as well as feature-length films. "This year we have once again been able to put together a great arthouse programme that reflects the entire spectrum of independent cinema," explains festival director Dr. Oliver Langewitz.

The programme committee has selected a total of 123 films from 36 countries from the more than 1,300 submissions: This is intended to represent as comprehensive a cross-section of the international film scene as possible, whether from the United Kingdom, the USA, Japan, Europe or India.

India Cooperation

Due to the thematic order of the programme items, there is something for film fans and cineastes: there are animation film programmes, a short film block deals with new cinematic trends from the French-speaking world and, together with the Karlsruhe Economic Development Corporation, contributions from India will also be shown in the film programme - on Sunday, 23 April, from 4:45 p.m. in the "Kino Schauburg".

Among others "Footprints" (India 2022, length: 23 min, language: Bengali with English subtitles): Pampa, a single mother and a lower caste slum dweller, works as domestic help for a dysfunctional middle class family. As her world comes crashing down at work one day, Pampa must stand up for herself by blurring the lines between master and maid.

"Amar Colony" (India 2022, Length: 76 min, Language: Hindi with English subtitles): Mohit is young, listless and lives with his mother Devki, who abuses him. Meera next door is beautiful, pregnant and looking for some spice in her life. Her boring, absent husband has a lot to hide, as does her aunt Dunga's husband, whose secret is known only to his grandson. Aunt Dunga, in turn, is old and hopes to become immortal. "Amar Colony" shows life in a dilapidated building with just that name. Here the generations meet to talk, eat, love and cheat.

Anlaufstelle in Pune
