Quality of Life in this City is High, and the Region is Booming
Welcome to Karlsruhe, the Place of Opportunity for Business
Karlsruhe is proving to be a veritable “Digital Gateway to Europe”, being the IT hub in the southwest of Germany. With its SmartCity initiative, Karlsruhe aims to increase the quality of its citizens' life, the innovative power of business and the appeal of the city and the region.
Thanks to the good network between Pune, Mumbai and Karlsruhe, a closer look into the “innovative Karlsruhe display” is possible. Karlsruhe is a city that can be read as a "knowledge factory with savoir vivre" – the quality of life in this city is high, and the region is booming. Karlsruhe is a flourishing location for business. Innovative and science-related businesses especially establish their bases here. Successful locations are characterized by a large number of outstanding political, social, ecological and economic conditions: Karlsruhe offers all of these, a solid business structure with strong partners, a large number of skilled workers, proximity to education and research facilities and competitive universities, as well as good transport connections and a good infrastructure. This is why Karlsruhe is among the leading locations in Germany.
As part of a high-level delegation to India at the end of January 2018, the Karlsruhe “India Board” – including ministries, politics, business development, events, associations, research and numerous companies – will take the next step to an existing good partnership with Pune and Mumbai. The "Marketing and Cooperation Office" of the city of Karlsruhe in Pune – represented by "Lets Bridge It" – offers support and a variety of approaches.
The topics include settlement, best practices, matchmaking, science, infrastructure, research and start-ups – of course with the cooperation partners such as "Maharatta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture" (MCCIA), "World Trade Center", the municipal administration in Pune or several companies. “The delegation and the meetings in Pune and Mumbai are based on the existing contacts and cooperations of the state of Baden-Württemberg as well as the city of Karlsruhe", says Ralf Eichhorn of the Economic Development Department (Wirtschaftsförderung): "We are going this next step now".
Germany is India's most important trading partner within the EU – and India is still on the growth path. No wonder, the importance of economic and social connections are high. Being an important part to this cooperation between innovation, e-mobility and start-ups: access for companies to the strong innovation and business centers is made even easier. Whether in Pune, Nagpur or Mumbai: This is where the “Karlsruhe India Board" with Lord mayor Dr. Frank Mentrup joins in for future cooperation with Indian counterparts.
For almost 60 years there has been a continuous intensification of German-Indian cooperation in science and research – the closer cooperation between the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Indian state of Maharashtra has resulted in a better exchange for two years now. (jow)
